The Mayville State University Alumni Association board has a full slate of activities planned throughout the Homecoming 2022 weekend of Oct. 7 and 8. Weekend highlights will include recognizing Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Award recipients and Athletic and Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame inductees. The Alumni Association board invites all alumni, family members, and friends to join in the festivities.

The 1989-90 men’s basketball team; Kelly Christianson, Roseau, Minn.; Gerald Falk, Morden, Manitoba; and James Lewis, Indianapolis, Ind., will be inducted into the Mayville State University Athletic Hall of Fame. Hank Biesiot, Dickinson, N.D.; Mark Carter, Bismarck, N.D.; Rick Christianson, Carrington, N.D.; Jim Dew, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; Tim Kolsrud, Bismarck, N.D.; and Randy Vigen, Buxton, N.D., will be inducted into Mayville State Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame. These folks will be honored during a dinner scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7 in the MSU Campus Center Luckasen Room. A pre-dinner social will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the MSU Larson Alumni and Leadership Center.

An all-alumni homecoming brunch is planned for Saturday morning, Oct. 8. It will begin at 9 a.m.in the Campus Center Luckasen Room. At the brunch, Distinguished Alumni and Distinguished Service Award recipients for 2022 will be recognized. All Mayville State alumni and friends are invited to enjoy brunch, celebrate being Mayville State alumni, and join in honoring outstanding Mayville State alumni and friends.

Honorees at the all-alumni homecoming brunch will be Distinguished Alumni Award recipients for 2022 Dr. Joe Eisenmann, South Haven, Mich.; Dr. Ron Reilkoff, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Jim Richardson, Ancaster, Ontario. Pam Soholt, Mayville, N.D., and Cleone Whelan, Crystal, N.D., will be recognized as recipients of the Distinguished Service Award.

Friday, Oct. 7

  • Doug Anderson, artist and 1974 Mayville State graduate, has created a wonderful depiction of Comet Athletics through the years. All are welcome to view the exhibit in the MSU Campus Center Foyer from 2 to 8 p.m.
  • The Mayville Golf Club will be the site for a social for all Mayville State alumni and friends from 8:30 to 11 p.m. A special invitation is extended to the members of the Jerome Berg football teams.

Saturday, Oct. 8

  • Doug Anderson’s Comet Athletics through the years art exhibit will be open in the MSU Campus Center Foyer from 8 a.m. to noon.
  • Several Athletic Hall of Fame teams are making anniversaries in five-year increments in 2022. A special invitation is extended to the members of the 1965 and 1990 football teams; the 1961-62 men’s basketball team; and the 1988 baseball team and their friends. Tailgating will take place at “The Grove” northwest of Jerome Berg Field.
  • The MSU Bookstore will be open from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
  • The traditional Ceremony of Remembrance at the Military Honor Garden will begin on the south lawn of the MSU Edson and Margaret Larson Alumni and Leadership Center at noon.
  • The Comets will host Waldorf University in the homecoming football game. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Jerome Berg Field. All homecoming honorees will be recognized at half time.
  • The Comets volleyball team will host Dickinson State at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. The JV match begins at 3:30, followed by the varsity at 5:30 p.m.
