The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that Mayville State University has won an at-large bid and will participate in the 22nd Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Tournament scheduled for March 6-12 in Sioux City, Iowa. This is the first time in Mayville State history that a women’s basketball team will compete in a national tournament. With a 20-win season, multiple victories over nationally ranked opponents, and six weeks ranked in the top 25 national poll, the Comets built an impressive resumé.  Their record to date is 20-5.

The Comets will play Northwestern (Iowa) in the first round of the tournament Wednesday, March 6. Game time is 1:45 p.m. The tournament will be held at the Tyson Events Center. A field of 32 teams, 21 automatic qualifiers from NAIA affiliated conferences and independents, plus 22 at-large selections, will be competing in the tournament.
