NAIAlogo.jpgMayville State University won an at-large bid to participate in the 22nd Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Tournament scheduled for March 6-12 in Sioux City, Iowa. This is the first time in Mayville State history that a women's basketball team will compete in a national tournament. With a 20-win season, multiple victories over nationally ranked opponents, and six weeks ranked in the top 25 national poll, the Comets built an impressive résumé. They enter the tournament with a 20-5 record.

Tournament Details

 

The tournament will be held at the Tyson Events Center. A field of 32 teams, 21 automatic qualifiers from NAIA affiliated conferences and independents, plus 22 at-large selections, will be competing in the tournament. The comets will play Northwestern (Iowa) in the first round of the tournament Wednesday, March 6. Game time is 1:45 p.m.

Telethon

 

KMAV Radio will will host a telethon to help raise financial assistance for team travel to the national tournament. The event will take place Monday, March 4 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Listen in at 105.5 FM or www.kmav.com. Hear interviews with the players and coaches, and call in to wish the Comets well and make your donation.

Show your Comet pride!

 

Come out and wish the Comets well as they head for Sioux City! There will be a send-off social from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Monday, March 4 at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. Visit with the team and coaches and enjoy light refreshments. The Comets will board the bus and leave for Sioux City at 1:15 p.m.
