Finalist candidates will visit campus June 21, 22, 24

Mayville State University will host four candidates for the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs the week of June 20. Campus visits are scheduled as follows: Tues., June 21, Dr. Brian Huschle; Wed., June 22, Dr. Kristin McCombs; Fri., June 24, Dr. Derek Driedger.  

Each candidate will make a presentation sharing his or her ideas for improving enrollment through academic programming. Presentations are scheduled for 8 to 9 a.m. on June 21, 22, and 24. They will be held in the MSU Classroom Building Auditorium and are open to the public.

About Mayville State University

Mayville State was founded in 1889 as a normal school, or a school that specialized in educating future teachers. Since then, MSU has steadily grown and diversified into a comprehensive university. Excellence in the classroom continues to be the top priority. To enhance the college experience, students can participate on intercollegiate athletic teams and be involved in music and theater opportunities and a host of student clubs and organizations.

Among the university's approved purposes is delivery of flexible programs, instruction, and student services to meet the needs of the individual. Our students enjoy personal attention, quality courses, and instructors who truly care about the quality of education each student deserves and receives. 

Fall Semester 2021 headcount enrollment was nearly 1,200 students. The campus workforce is made up of 192 employees. Traditional students, under the age of 24, comprise 69% of our total student population. The number of non-traditional students, age 25 and more, has increased by 31% in the last decade, with 371 currently pursuing degrees at Mayville State. A record number of freshmen enrolled in the Fall Semester of 2021. The student body is largely comprised of students from North Dakota and Minnesota, with 65% of all students being North Dakota residents. 68% of Mayville State graduates stay in North Dakota, filling workforce needs or continuing their education. The number of high school students who enroll in dual credit courses at Mayville State continues to increase.

Mayville State's total budgeted revenue in fiscal year 2021 is $28.2 million. This includes state appropriations of $8.4 million, $5.8 million in tuition and fees, $6.6 million in grants and contracts, $2.6 million in CARES Act funding, $1.5 million in sales and services of educational departments, $2 million in auxiliary enterprises, and $1.3 million in other revenues.

Mayville State University is organized into six academic divisions:

    • Division of Education
    • Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation
    • Division of Liberal Arts
    • Division of Science and Mathematics
    • Division of Business
    • Division of Nursing

Within these divisions, MSU proudly offers 80+ majors, minors, and programs. Available degrees include Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Education, Master of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Education, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of University Studies, Bachelor of Applied Science, and Associate of Arts.
