In the Round of 16 of the NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournament, the #12 Mayville State Comets faced the #2 Dordt Defenders for the right to advance to the NAIA Quarterfinals. In a closely fought contest throughout, the Defenders used a late run to escape with an 84-76 win. ending the Comets' run in the tournament.

We're COMET PROUD of the Mayville State team, coaches, and staff! They have represented their university so well.

The Comets Women's Basketball Team
is in the NAIA national tournament!

trophy.jpgThe #12 Mayville State Comets won the North Star conference championship Sunday, March 3 with a win over #9 Dakota State at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse! The Comets captured their second consecutive NSAA tournament championship and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the second season in a row and for the third time in five years.

With wins in Rounds 1 and 2, the Comets enter the Round of 16 at the final National Championship site, the Tyson Event Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The Comets will face Dordt (Iowa). Game time is 6 p.m. on Friday, March 22.

The Comets won Rounds 1 & 2 in Salina, Kansas and
are off to the Round of 16 in Sioux City, Iowa!

Mayville State drew the 4 Seed to face 13 Seed Freed-Hardeman in the first round of the tournament in Salina, Kansas on Friday, March 15. 

The Comets defeated Freed-Hardeman, 87-58, to advance to Round 2.

In Round 2, the Comets defeated University of Louisiana Shreveport, 86-65, to advance to the National Championship Round of 16 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Game time for the Comets is 6 p.m. Friday, March 22, when they face Dordt (Iowa).

All Comets fans are invited to gather along with the team and coaches while in Sioux City!

Thursday, March 21: 8 p.m. at Famous Dave's, 201 Pierce Street, Sioux City. Dinner will be served.  

Friday, March 22: 8:15 p.m. at the ballroom of the Courtyard by Marriott, 901 4th Street, Sioux City. Food and a cash bar will be available.

National Tournament Round of 16 Watch Party

You're invited to join in the fun at the National Tournament Round of 16 game watch party Friday, March 22 at 6 p.m. in the MSU Classroom Building Auditorium. Cheer for the Comets from afar as they take on Dordt (Iowa). All are welcome!
