Research Shadow or Ride-Along
The Research Shadows (RS) aims to support hands-on STEM learning for rural M-12 students. This program offers students the opportunity to engage with Mayville State University STEM faculty at a university research lab, observing and participating in the research work to gain a better understanding of the varied nature of STEM fields in rural communities. Students will engage in real research in a variety of laboratory settings at Mayville State University.
RS experiences get your students outside of the classroom to participate in STEM inquiry! This program provides partial or total reimbursement for transportation and bussing for your class(es) depending on mileage and transportation type. There are available stipends for the participating STEM faculty and the M-12 students.
How to Get Students in Research Shadow
Dr. Khwaja Hossain, the PI, with the assistance of the enrollment service, will contact M-12 STEM teachers in the surrounding high schools. Interested STEM teachers will bring their classes to the STEM Faculty laboratory to shadow the participating faculty's laboratory activities.
