Comet of the Week - 03-30-2021 Facebook.pngMiKara Johanson is a junior from Edmore, North Dakota. She is pursuing two majors, Elementary Education and Secondary Social Science Education. MiKara's future plan is to teach in a small school in North Dakota. When asked what brought her to MSU she responded, "Coming from a small high school, Mayville State checked every box for me. I chose Mayville State because of the small class sizes and because of how welcomed I felt during my tour. I could sense the family feel almost immediately." MiKara works for Mayville State University Child Development Programs (CDP) as a substitute teacher. She is also a teacher at the CDP's after-school program, CHEERS. She says having the opportunity to work on campus is very convenient and it provides her with learning experiences she will take with her after her time at MSU. What MiKara loves about MSU is that everyone makes you feel like you belong. She believes this is what has made her successful at Mayville State.
