“A Sparkling Affair” promises to be a fun-filled event

“A Sparkling Affair,” an event that will include fabulous jewelry prizes, a silent auction, and exciting games of chance, will be held for the third year on Thursday evening, February 26. The Luckasen Room at the MSU Campus Center will be a-buzz with anticipation! Women and men are invited to join in the fun. Proceeds of the event will benefit honor scholarships for Mayville State University students.

We’re very excited that Riddle’s Jewelry has come on board for a third year as a major sponsor of “A Sparkling Affair.” Riddle’s has donated a three-stone diamond ring (1 ct. total weight), a Comet blue ring, and a gold diamond pendant that will be available to those who choose to play the Riddle’s treasure hunt game. Total value of the jewelry donated by Riddle’s is nearly $6,000. We are very fortunate to have their support.

While they are not heading up the event as they have for the past two years, my wife, Debbie, and Jennifer Kohls, founders of “A Sparkling Affair,” are using their talents and love for making jewelry to create a minimum of 20 unique and beautiful jewelry items that they are donating to the cause. These wonderful jewelry pieces will be given away as door prizes throughout the evening.

In addition, local jewelry crafters Helen Hoyt, Lisa Rakowski, and Shari Schultz are creating some very lovely jewelry pieces that will be available for sale via silent auction. All who attend the event will have an opportunity to bid.

New to “A Sparkling Affair” this year is the “Treat Yourself to a Cupcake” game. Seventy-five Gigi’s cupcakes, each in its own special box, will be available for sale at the event. Purchasers will be eager to open their boxes to learn if they have also won one of many wonderful prizes, valued at $35 or more. Prizes will include products from Thirty-One, Herbalife, Essential Oils, Paparazzi Accessories, Younique Makeup, Mary Kay, and Pampered Chef, a Paul Mitchell flat iron, an “America’s Hot Spot” tanning package, a gel manicure, a one-hour massage, and baskets of wine, Jamberry, and Scentsy.

We are grateful to Jessie Evanson, Karla Thykeson, Billie Jacobson, Epic Nutrition, Mindy O’Connor, Kathlyn Olson, Amanda Evans, Wild Side Salon, Nancy Paulson, Dawn’s Hair Salon, Sharon’s Massage Therapy, Meghan Hovde, Top Hat Lounge, Kayla Smith, and Tammy Adam for their generous donations to this important fundraiser for Mayville State University.

In addition to the chance to win jewelry and other prizes, those who attend will be treated to delicious hors d’oeuvres, and a cash bar will be available as well. You won’t want to miss seeing the sharp-dressed surprise guests who will be assisting through the evening!

Tickets for “A Sparkling Affair” sell for $25 each, and are going fast! Get your ticket today by going to www.mayvillestate.edu/sparklingaffair or by contacting the MSU Foundation at 701-788-4864.

“A Sparkling Affair” is sure to be a “sparkling” experience for all who attend. I extend my personal thanks to all who are contributing their talents and financial resources to assure an enjoyable time for all who attend, while generating very important scholarship dollars for Mayville State students. It’s amazing what can happen when enthusiastic people team up for an important cause. Be sure to join in the excitement that will unfold at Mayville State on February 26!
