A_Tribute_to_Clenora-web.jpgPlans are underway for the Mayville State University Farmers Bowl, scheduled for September 12, 2015. For the thirteenth time, artist and MSU alumnus Doug Anderson, Cavalier, N.D., has created and donated a watercolor painting that will be raffled as part of the scholarship fund-raising efforts of the Mayville State University Foundation in conjunction with the Farmers Bowl Auction. Mayville State graduate Kelly Morrison has donated the cost of framing the piece.

Anderson’s work, “A Tribute to Clenora,” features the statue depicting two children sitting on a bench reading. The statue is a part of the Clenora Quanbeck Memorial Garden located at the Edson and Margaret Larson Alumni and Leadership Center at Mayville State University. The garden was established in 2014 in loving memory of Clenora E. Quanbeck by former students and employees, along with friends and family. Miss Quanbeck served Mayville State and its students from 1952 to 1980, as librarian, library science instructor, and dorm mother at West Hall.

“A Tribute to Clenora” will be on display at Mayville-Portland area businesses and on the Mayville State campus during the weeks prior to the Farmers Bowl festivities.

Raffle tickets sell for $10.00 each. They may be purchased at the MSU Foundation office and from various community members. Tickets are also available for sale online at www.mayvillestate.edu/farmersbowl. The drawing will be held at the Farmers Bowl auction Saturday evening, September 12.

Original artwork donated by Anderson for past raffles includes “MSU’s Guiding Light,” “Last Blooms at West Hall,” “Last Views from East Hall,” “Summer Serenity,” “Historic Old Main,” East Hall,” “Skating at Island Park,” “Old Main in Bloom,” “The Power of Place, Old Main,” “Floral Celebration,” “Tradition,” and “Pride … Then and Now.”
