Mayville State’s new M.Ed. program provides flexibility for working professionals

Mayville State University is now offering online degree options for current teachers who wish to earn a master’s degree in education. The graduate tracks are designed to be flexible, allowing the students to work at a pace that fits their busy lives through full- and part-time options.

The courses are offered entirely online, in eight-week terms that offer flexibility and convenience for working professionals. Our outstanding full-time MSU faculty teach the courses and are readily available to meet with students face-to-face, via email, and on Zoom.

We are very proud of the fact that all Mayville State courses are of the highest quality taught by faculty members who truly care about their students. Mayville State is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation. These accrediting agencies put their seal of approval on our programs and stand behind our commitment to offer excellent educational opportunities.

Three tracks are being offered in our new Master of Education program, giving students options to specialize in a variety of areas in the career of teaching.

Graduates of the Innovative Teaching Practices track will be prepared to obtain leadership roles such as curriculum coordinator, instructional specialist, or team lead for campus learning communities. Action research projects, such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities, coding, blended and hybrid learning, will support implementation of innovative strategies that directly impact P-12 learners.

Graduates of the Adult Teaching and Learning track will be prepared to design and lead professional development in leadership roles for institutions in both the private sector and public schools. Organizations and schools have continual professional development and graduates of this track will be ready to design and lead professional development for adults of all ages and occupations.

Graduates of the Special Education track will be able to obtain licensure in the area of special education and be prepared to teach in all special education roles. Hands-on practicum experiences are built into the program to support the student in his or her future role as a special education teacher or special education coordinator.

Mindy O’Connor has already begun the journey toward earning a Master of Education degree at Mayville State. She said, “Getting my graduate degree with Mayville State University is the best decision for me and my family. It is 100% online, so I am able to work, be a mom, and earn a quality education. It is also available at the best price in the Midwest.”

The rate of tuition and fees for the degree is very competitive, at approximately $15,000 for the 32 to 34 credit hours required to complete the program. Financial aid may be available.
