Mayville State University employees and volunteers are gearing up for Farmers Bowl 2019. The annual Farmers Bowl event honors the proud agricultural heritage of the Traill County area. Saturday, Sept. 14 promises to be a fun-filled day for Mayville State alumni and friends, as well as the community.

The festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 with the Farmers Bowl parade. The parade will form up north of the Goose River Bank and will make its way down Main Street, ending at Jerome Berg Field on the Mayville State campus. All are welcome to participate in the parade. To register an entry, contact Stacy Buchl at the MSU Foundation, 701-788-4864 or stacy.buchl@mayvillestate.edu.

The legendary Farmers Bowl corn on the cob and hot dog feed will begin immediately following the parade on the lawn outside of Jerome Berg Field. Mayville State athletes and coaches are taking charge of the feed which is open to the public. Freewill donations will be accepted.

The Farmers Bowl Fair will feature something for everyone, including inflatable games and more. Plans for possible additional activities are underway. The fun begins at 10:30 a.m. and will continue until noon. There is no charge to participate in the Farmers Bowl Fair.

The Comets will host Trinity Bible College in the Farmers Bowl game. Kickoff is at noon at Jerome Berg Field. The Comets will be wearing their new commemorative Farmers Bowl helmets, which feature a wheat motif. Donors to the Farmers Bowl helmet project will be recognized at half time of the game.

The Comets volleyball team will also play home games on Sept. 14. The Comets will host Lakehead University at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse. Game time is 3:30 p.m.

Farmers Bowl 2019 will culminate with the Comet Athletic Club Sportsmen’s Raffle and Farmers Bowl Silent Auction. The event will begin with dinner and socializing at 5 p.m. at the Mayville Armory. The annual Sportsmen’s Raffle will feature the raffle drawings for a 50-gun giveaway. Drawings will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets for the raffle are available for purchase at the MSU Foundation office and from any Comet Athletic Club board member. Ticket holders will have a 1-in-10 chance of winning a gun. See more, including a listing of guns to be raffled, at www.mayvillestate.edu/sportsmensraffle.

The Farmers Bowl Silent Auction is back and will be held in conjunction with the Sportsmen’s Raffle event. Those who wish to attend the event, but who do not wish to participate in the 50-gun giveaway, may purchase meal-only tickets for $25 each. The meal is included for those who purchase tickets for the gun raffle. Meal-only tickets are available at the MSU Foundation office and from Comet Athletic Club board members.

“We’re excited about the return of the Farmers Bowl Silent Auction and encourage alumni and friends to head to the Mayville Armory for a meal and socializing following the Comets games on Sept. 14,” said Beth Swenson, MSU Director of Alumni Affairs and interim executive director of the MSU Foundation. “This will be a great way to celebrate what we know will be another fun Farmers Bowl day, while supporting Mayville State University and its students.”

Bidding on the Farmers Bowl Silent Auction will begin at 5 p.m., when the doors open for the Sportsmen’s Raffle event. Proceeds will benefit the students of Mayville State University through the Comet Athletic Club, the Alumni Association, and the MSU Foundation.
