Mayville State University celebrated its 121st commencement Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2013. Activities for the day included the Good Grad Morning open house, the first official event for the newest Mayville State alumni; commencement exercises; and a post-commencement reception. All events were held on the Mayville State campus.

Graduates Rami Carlson, Northwood, N.D.; Elizabeth Jemar, Eagle River, Alaska; Todd Olson, Grand Forks, N.D.; and Jay Dyck, Calgary, Alberta; participated in the day’s activities as student speakers. Carlson spoke as part of the Good Grad Morning program, while the others spoke during the commencement exercises. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jay Dyck was unable to deliver his speech in person, but a video recording was played during the ceremony.

Keynote commencement speaker was Mayville native and 1984 Mayville State graduate Michael Holmes. Holmes is a deputy associate director for research at the Energy & Environmental Research Center, University of North Dakota. He is a recipient of the Mayville State University Distinguished Alumni Award and is a member of the Mayville State Athletic Hall of Fame.
