Sara Stevenson, Cavalier, N.D., is one of 26 recipients of the 2018 Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Caring Foundation Health Profession Scholarship. Stevenson is enrolled in Mayville State University’s RN-to-BSN online nursing program. The BCBSND Foundation is helping address the critical nursing shortage by providing financial assistance to health profession students across North Dakota. Each of the 26 recipients received a $2,500 scholarship award.

Mayville State’s RN-to-BSN program is designed to assist current registered nurses in pursuing baccalaureate degrees in nursing while maintaining their current employment and providing support to their families. Because of the nursing shortage in North Dakota, the need to retain nurses in the health care setting is critical. Mayville State’s RN-to-BSN nursing program allows nurses to continue to work while pursuing their goal of securing advanced practice nursing degrees. Mayville State offers online courses, each in five-week blocks. Registered nurses can meet their educational goals one or two classes at a time while continuing to contribute to the health care workforce.

Affordable Colleges Online (AC Online) has recently ranked Mayville State University’s RN-to-BSN program as one of 50 of the best online RN-to-BSN programs in the country. Applications for Mayville State’s RN-to-BSN nursing program are currently being accepted for the spring semester. For more information, call 701-788-5289 or go to www.mayvillestate.edu/nursing.
