The public is invited to join in celebrating the completion of the Mayville State University Campus Center remodeling project. An open house is planned from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 in the remodeled space that includes the bookstore, mailroom, student lounge, and a vending area in the northeast corner of the building. Refreshments will be served, and the bookstore will be offering a 20% discount on all sales on Oct. 31.

“We’d love for our community members to stop by and see this beautiful new space,” said MSU President Dr. Brian Van Horn. “The completion of this project adds to the list of several campus upgrades, while others are underway. We’re very excited about how these improvements are making a difference for Mayville State students, as well as employees.”

Mayville State’s flagship building, Old Main, is currently undergoing a more than $52 million renovation that will be life-changing for the university. The exterior of the building will retain its historical character as the interior is transformed to accommodate education in the 21st century.

As a subsidiary of the Old Main project, an elevator is being installed at the Campus Center. A new parking lot has been constructed east of the building. Both of these projects accommodate the increased foot and vehicle traffic at and near the Campus Center while the Old Main project is underway. Accessibility and extra parking are needed as many employee offices have been moved from Old Main to the Campus Center in the interim.

Legacy Plaza, a wonderful new outdoor space that incorporates patios, seating, and beautiful landscaping in the major corridor that runs east and west between Lewy Lee Fieldhouse at the Classroom Building and joins the east side of campus to Old Main was completed in September. Students, employees, and community members are enjoying this welcoming area.

By the time the Old Main renovation project is completed (projected in summer of 2026), approximately 50% of the space on the Mayville State campus will be new.

“This is a time of great excitement at Mayville State,” said Mayville State Bookstore Director Kim Holder, who oversaw the Campus Center remodel project together with Mayville State Vice President for Business Affairs Amber Hill. “Please join us on Oct. 31 to see some of the reasons why.”
