The Mayville State University Comets have won the Cookie Challenge sponsored by the Sioux City Journal. Even though the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa was canceled due to worries about the COVID-19 virus, the Journal’s Cookie Challenge continued.
The Journal asked each of the 32 schools participating in the National Championship to contribute a recipe for a favorite cookie, bar, or brownie. Voting was made available to the public online. When voting ended Monday, March 16, Comet Chocolate Chippers came out on top with 350 votes. The recipe was provided by super Comets fan Lisa Rakowski, who is a Mayville State employee and alumna.
While there was no official champion in the basketball tournament, winning the Cookie Challenge is definitely a sweet finale to what has been a fabulous season for the Comets.
