Toureny win.jpgWith their win over Bellevue University in the North Star Athletic Association Final Four tournament held in Watertown, S.D. Feb. 24, the Mayville State University Comets men’s basketball team has earned an automatic berth in the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship. The tournament will be held in Sioux Falls, S.D. at the Sanford Pentagon March 6 through 12.

The Comets will play against Morningside of Iowa in the opening round at the Sanford Pentagon on Thursday, March 7 at 5:45 p.m.

A fan bus is available for Comets fans who’d like to attend the opening round game. The bus will leave from the east side of the MSU Lewy Lee Fieldhouse on Thursday, March 7 at 11 a.m. The bus will return to Mayville following the game.

Thanks to the generosity of a Mayville State alum, Mayville State University students may ride the bus for free. They must register in advance with Leah Larson in in the MSU HPER Dept.

Cost for community members to ride the bus is $20 per person. If interested, you must pre-pay and register with Leah Larson in the MSU Department of HPER and Athletics. They will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t delay!

All Mayville State University fans are invited to gather prior to the game, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Blue Rock Bar & Grill, which is located just down the street from the Sanford Pentagon at 4021 N Bobhalla Dr., Sioux Falls, S.D.  57107. This will be a great time to unite as Comet Nation, enjoy refreshments, and rally around the Comets. People will be on their own to order from the menu during the pre-game festivities.

The MSU Alumni Association will host a social for all Mayville State fans, alumni, and friends following the game, from 8 to 10 p.m., at the Blue Rock Bar & Grill. A complimentary taco bar will be provided and a cash bar will be available.  

For those who are not able to attend the games in Sioux Falls, the opening round game on March 7 at 5:45 p.m. will be streamed via the Internet and shown in the MSU Campus Center Luckasen Room. Each of the games in which the Comets play will be streamed for public viewing on the Mayville State campus. (Watch for a possible room change.)
