Welcome to Mayville State!
Thank you for visiting Mayville State University's website! We hope that you will explore the site carefully and become familiar with all of the wonderful opportunities that await you as a student at Mayville State University. Becoming a college student is so exciting, and choosing a college home, whether on campus or at a distance, is a big decision.
Mayville State students enjoy personal attention, state-of-the-art technology, quality classes, and instructors who truly care about the quality of education each student receives. The combination of high quality curriculum and cutting-edge technology makes for satisfied students with high job placement rates.
Mayville State University began as Mayville Normal School in 1889. Since then, MSU has steadily grown and progressed. While excellence in the classroom is still our primary goal, you will be delighted to learn about our successful intercollegiate athletic teams, fine arts and drama opportunities, clubs and a host of student organizations. There is something for everyone at Mayville State University!
The Mayville State University campus is currently undergoing a big transformation.
A recently completed remodeling project at the Campus Center is providing new space for the campus bookstore and mailroom, as well as beautiful gathering spaces for students and others.
Legacy Plaza, located in the corridor that connects the east side of campus with Old Main was completed in the fall of 2024. This beautiful outdoor area includes patios, gardens, and seating for all to enjoy.
Mayville State was granted $52,254,901 in state funding for the renovation of Old Main by the 68th Legislative Assembly in 2023. Preliminary work began shortly after and has continued during the months that have followed.
The renovation project will modernize the historic building, providing state-of-the-art classroom facilities, greater accessibility, and better efficiency. Students, staff, and faculty will enjoy more classroom and communal space. The renovation honors Old Main's legacy as a cornerstone of the Mayville State University campus, while growing into the future as the university continues to meet the needs of students and prepare them for success in the classroom and beyond. See the vision for the renovated Old Main.
Completion of the Old Main project is slated for July of 2026. With the completion of this project, approximately 50% of the Mayville State University campus will be "new" in a span of just a few years.
We would love to have you visit our campus and experience all of this for yourself. Call us today at 1-800-437-4104 to set up your campus tour.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brian Van Horn
