John Lyng.jpgDr. John Lyng, 2001 Mayville State graduate, was recently awarded the NAEMSP President’s Award, honoring extraordinary commitment and service to NAESMP. Dr. Lyng is editor-in-chief for a group who research and write position papers meant to improve EMS care. So far, the group has published 16 documents, with more to come. Their work has already shaped national and international trauma conversations. The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) is a premier non-profit organization dedicated to providing leadership and fostering excellence in out-of-hospital emergency medical services (EMS).

The significance of the group’s contribution to EMS Medicine and their selection for the award is well summarized in the following statement: “This year the NAESMP president recognized an exceptional group of members whose work on the Trauma Compendium helped move EMS trauma care forward by replacing dogma with evidence-based guidance. This was an incredible example of collaboration, scholarship, and leadership in EMS Medicine.”

This is Dr. Lyng’s second NAEMSP President’s Award. He earned the first one in 2017 for his outstanding service as a member of the board.

A Mayville native, Dr. John Lyng, MD, FACEP, FAEMS, NRP, earned his degree in medicine at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2005. He has more than 25 years of EMS experience across the United States and internationally.
