Here's why Mayville State is right for Kalli!

Why did you choose to attend Mayville State University?
I chose to attend Mayville State University because of its enrollment size. Coming from a high school class of 26, I wanted to attend a small university where I would be more than just a number. I have formed relationships with countless students and professors.

What do you like best about the major you’re pursuing?
Being an education major has many positives. I think the best thing about being an education major is that I am going to have a major impact on somebody’s life. I am going to be a role model. I am going to guide students along their educational paths of success.

What do you like best about Mayville State in general?
What I like best about Mayville State are the relationships that I have built. There are so many resources and people to guide you to success. Not once have I been afraid to ask for help. When you ask a professor a question, or come to them with concerns, they are more than happy to help you in any way possible.

Do you participate in any activities related to your major/minor? Internships? Work Study? Other?
I am a member of SEA, Student Education Association. SEA has allowed many opportunities for involvement on campus.

Have you had any unique opportunities, in or out of the classroom, while you’ve been enrolled at Mayville State?
One unique opportunity that I have had outside of the classroom while I have been enrolled at Mayville State was attending a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) conference for educators in Bismarck, N.D.

What MSU clubs, organizations, or athletic activities to you participate in?
I am a member of Student Education Association. Being a member of SEA, there are many opportunities open to you. I have volunteered to sell cookies, and I am looking into going on a CORE trip to Virginia and Washington, D.C. for spring break.

How have these activities enhanced your college experience?
These activities have enhanced my college experience because they have gotten me involved on campus, and a lot of the activities that I am involved in are geared toward my major.

What has been your greatest moment as a Mayville State student?
My greatest moment has been making the Dean’s List every semester that I have been enrolled at Mayville State.

What does personal service mean to you?
To me, personal service means going beyond yourself to help others for the greater good. When you go beyond yourself, you see things from a different perspective and you help others in more ways than one, whether it is academically or emotionally.

What are your plans after graduating from Mayville State?
After graduating from Mayville State, I plan to teach elementary school in one of the surrounding communities.
