dance250x250.jpgThe fabulous Downtown Horns are returning to the Mayville State University campus Saturday, October 4, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. for a special Homecoming dance. The public is cordially invited to join in this opportunity to dance the night away in celebration of Mayville State University’s 125th anniversary. Everyone is welcome. The evening will include dancing, socializing, an hors d’oeuvres buffet, and cash bar.

The energetic Downtown Horns have become well-known as the premiere wedding and party band in the Grand Forks area. They play selections from the rock, blues, and horn band genres, and have been influenced by such artists as Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Chicago, The Commodores, Tower of Power, Van Morrison, and Wilson Pickett. Band members include Dave Christianson, Jenny Loer, Stacey Searle, Mayville State graduate Lynn Schroeder, Michael Wittgraf, Dan Christianson, Dave Berger, Mike Blackmun, and Phil Jensen.

“The Downtown Horns have performed for appreciative crowds at Mayville State’s Poinsettia Ball for the past two years,” said MSU Director of Alumni Affairs Beth Swenson. “Those who’ve attended have enjoyed themselves immensely, and we encourage you to join in the fun during 2014 Homecoming festivities. You don’t have to be a Mayville State alum to attend. We encourage all members of the Mayville-Portland community and beyond to celebrate with us at Mayville State.”

The dance will begin at 7:00 p.m. October 4 in the Mayville State University Campus Center Luckasen Room, and will end at 11:00 p.m. Tickets for the 125th Anniversary Homecoming Dance sell for $20.00 each and can be purchased at the MSU Foundation office, 701-788-4687, or online at www.mayvillestate.edu/homecoming2014.
