“A Sparkling Affair” promises to be a fun-filled event

For a second year, my wife, Debbie, Jennifer Kohls, and Loree Stenehjem are teaming up to organize “A Sparkling Affair,” an event that will be include fabulous jewelry prizes, silent auction, live musical entertainment, games, and refreshments. The Luckasen Room at the MSU Campus Center will be a-buzz with excitement and anticipation on Thursday evening, February 20! Women and men are invited to join in the fun.

Proceeds of the event will benefit the hospitality fund for the new Edson & Margaret Larson Alumni and Leadership Center at Mayville State. One of the greatest benefits of having the new facility on campus will be the opportunity to entertain alumni and friends. The hospitality fund will help to provide the amenities and necessities that will make this possible.

Jennifer and Debbie are using their talents and love for making jewelry to create a minimum of 20 unique and beautiful jewelry items (valued at $40-$120 each). These wonderful jewelry pieces will be given away as door prizes throughout the evening, and some of them will also be available for purchase in a silent auction.

We’re very excited that Riddle’s Jewelry has come on board for a second year as a major sponsor of “A Sparkling Affair.” They have increased their prize package from $4,570 in 2013 to $9,500 this year! We are very fortunate to have their support.

Three Riddle’s jewelry pieces will be the grand prizes in a spectacular treasure hunt. First prize is a one-carat diamond pendant ($7,000 value). Second prize is a Comet blue diamond ring ($1,100 retail value), and third prize is a ladies watch ($400 retail value.)

MSU Director of Development John Klocke and I will again be manning the “Puttin’ on the Ritz” golfing game. There will be opportunity to win one of two $500 shopping sprees at Riddle’s for those who play.

In addition to the chance to win prizes, those who attend will be entertained with vocal music by John Klocke. There will be delicious hors d’oeuvres served, and a cash bar will be available as well.

Tickets for “A Sparkling Affair” sell for $25 each, and are going fast! Get your ticket today by going to www.mayvillestate.edu/sparklingaffair or by contacting the MSU Foundation at 701-788-4687 or Debbie Hagen or Loree Stenehjem.

“A Sparkling Affair” organizers are investing their endless enthusiasm into this event, and are going above and beyond to assure that it will be a “sparkling” experience for all who attend. I extend my personal thanks to Debbie, Jennifer, and Loree, and all who are assisting them, for their efforts. It’s amazing what can happen when enthusiastic people team up for an important cause. Be sure to join in the excitement that will unfold at Mayville State on February 20!
