Financial Aid doesn't have to be complicated.

Financial Aid

We know that applying for financial aid can be rather intimidating, so we try to make the process run as smoothly as possible for our students. Our goal is to educate and guide students through the financial aid process. We care about our students and our service to them. Here at Mayville State University, you can always count on personal service. We will work with you to select the right combination of aid available according to your needs, and then guide you through the process.

The menu to the right is there to help you explore the world of financial aid and to answer any questions that you may have. Of course, you are always welcome to call, write or email us with questions or concerns. We look forward to serving each student and making the financial aid process a positive experience.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

The first step in applying for financial aid is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students who want to apply for financial aid must complete and submit a FAFSA for every school year. Aid eligibility is based on current financial circumstances, so the Department of Education requires that students reapply every year so that need for assistance can be re-evaluated.

Both students and parents need a PIN to sign the FAFSA electronically. The PIN will also be needed to sign the master promissory note and access personal financial aid information on the Department of Education websites.

Apply Early! The North Dakota state priority deadline is March 15 of each year. To be considered for the greatest possible amount of aid, you must submit your FAFSA before that deadline.

Scholarships

Budget Appeal Form

Sometimes, despite careful planning of your academic year budget, unexpected expenses can occur. If you incur certain costs above your allowed financial aid budget, the Financial Aid Office may be able to add them to your budget and cover them with student loans, based on availability of funds. On occasion, other types of funding may be available, including work study and some grants.  Please note that submitting a request for a budget increase does not guarantee additional funding.
