Game Summary
Krista Hendricks provided a dramatic walk-off home run for the Comets to get going in the DAC softball playoffs on Saturday as MSU defeated Black Hills State 3-2 in the first round of play.
MSU defeated Black Hills State 3-2 in game number one and fell to Dickinson State 8-0 in the Comets' second game of the day.
MSU was scoreless throughout the first six innings of play against BHSU, but the Comets wouldn't go quietly and answered for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to win. Krista Hendricks hit a three-run blast to lift the Comets to victory as she finished the game 1-4 at the plate.
Lyndsi Maglish was 2-3 and Samantha Newman was 2-3 for the Comets.
Morgan Bickell went the distance to pick up the complete-game win, striking out two and walking two in the game.
Against Dickinson State the Comets struggled to get any offense going as Krista Hendricks provided the Comets with their only hit of the game. DSU pitcher Sara Jane Webster was nearly perfect on the mound, pitching five complete innings while striking out 9 and only allowing one hit in the game.
The Comets will move on to play Dakota State University on Sunday.
