Game Summary

A two-out two-run walk off home run by FR CF Chantal Erickson capped an intense comeback for Mayville State as the Comets defeated UMC 5-3 in eight innings. MSU swept the doubleheader and extended it winning streak to five games.

The Comets trailed 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. MSU's rally began with a lead-off walk to Frankie Ovalle. She scored on a triple by Erickson. Erickson scored on a ground out to short by Mueller, cutting the lead to one. Mandy Fladmark then blasted a home run to left center to tie the game 3-3 and send it to extra innings.

In the 8th, MSU had a chance to score early. P Sarah Rice reached on an error and, after Laura Harthan reached on an infield single, tried to score after UMC began bobbling the ball but was thrown out at the plate. Ovalle flew out to left for the second out to set up the extra-inning heroics for Erickson.

The Comets were paced by Erickson, who was 3-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs scored, a double. triple and home run. Deanna Easterbrook and Harthan also had three hits for MSU as the Comets pounded out 13 hits.

Rice pitched a complete game for MSU, allowing three earned runs on six hits and two walks with two strikeouts in eight innings.
