Game Summary
Dakota State University scored in the final minute of play on Sunday to go ahead and defeat Mayville State University 31-27 in the first game of the Dacotah Bank DAC Bowl on Sunday at the FargoDome.
DSU jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter after Paul Bagala carried the ball for a 75-yard touchdown. From that point on it was all Comets.
John Drees scored three touchdowns in the second quarter alone, finding the endzone from 2 yards out, 19 yards out, and 1 yard out to give the Comets the lead. MSU missed on all three extra point opportunities and a Dakota State University field goal with 2:59 left in the first half made the score 18-10.
DSU stormed back in the second half of play with a Paul Bagala touchdown pass to Stacey Berg for a 68-yard touchdown in the third quarter and a 10-yard pass to Berg in the fourth to go ahead 24-18.
Mayville State University bounced back to score on a safety and scored on a Mitchell Ford Touchdown run with under two minutes left to take the lead at 27-24. But DSU found a way to score once again on a 25-yard touchdown strike with 30 seconds left in the game. The Trojans held on for the win.
