Melissa Majerus took over the reigns as head softball coach this spring following the resignation of former coach Chris Reed. She has recently been named Mayville State University's permanaent head softball coach.
Majerus is a native of Goodhue, Minn. She earned a bachelor’s degree at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., where she was a four-year athlete in basketball and softball. She earned a master’s degree in education from St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minn.
Majerus began her tenure at Mayville State in the fall of 2007 when she joined the staff as assistant women’s basketball coach and adjunct instructor in Health Physical Education and Recreation.
Prior to coming to Mayville State, Majerus was the assistant softball coach at the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minn. for four years. She has also served as head softball coach at Bloomington Kennedy High School in Bloomington, Minn., head softball coach at Mason City High School in Mason City, Iowa, and assistant softball coach at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, Iowa.
