Mayville State University students George Davisson and Chloe Jacobson have received ND EPSCoR ND-ACES Distributed Research Experience for Undergraduates (dREU) Program awards for the summer of 2024. George is a junior from Concord, Calif. Chloe is a sophomore from Pisek, N.D.

George Davisson.jpgDavisson will work with Dr. Sanku Mallik, Dale Hogoboom Presidential Professor, and his laboratory at North Dakota State University between May 13 and June 1, 2024, and with Dr. Khwaja Hussain, Professor of Biology, and his laboratory at Mayville State University during the 2024-25 academic year. Under the award, George will conduct independent research under the direction of Dr. Hossain and Dr. Mallik in the ND-ACES topic area of triple-negative breast cancer cell spheroids.

In addition to his work in the lab, and as part of the award, George Davisson will complete surveys and interviews, participate in research training group sessions, production of an electronic presentation describing his research, complete an EPSCoR newsletter feature, and attend and present a poster outlining his research at the ND EPSCoR Annual State Conference.

Chloe Jacobson.jpgChloe Jacobson will work with Dr. Binglin Sui and his laboratory at the University of North Dakota from May 13 to June 1, 2024. She will work with Dr. Khwaja Hossain at his laboratory at Mayville State University during the 2024-25 academic year. Under the award, she will conduct independent research under the direction of Dr. Hossain and Dr. Sui in the ND-ACES topic area of novel therapeutic nanoparticles.

In addition to their work in the lab, and as part of the award, George and Chloe will complete surveys and interviews, participate in research training group sessions, production of an electronic presentation describing his research, complete an EPSCoR newsletter feature, and attend and present a poster outlining his research at the ND EPSCoR Annual State Conference.
