The holidays are upon us and it’s time to celebrate! I invite all students, employees and their families, alumni, friends, and community members to join us at Mayville State on the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 16, when we’ll celebrate the renovation of our beloved Old Main together with the ties that bind us as a campus and community.
The Mayville State University Student Education Association (SEA) recently completed a heartwarming literacy initiative in partnership with the Mayville State Child Development Programs (CDP), bringing the joy of reading and kindness to the youngest learners in our community.
Roy T. Bennett reminds us: “Always remember those who have helped you along the way, and never miss the chance to lift someone up.” These words carry incredible insight - when we embrace gratitude and kindness, we not only make the world a better place, we inspire others to do the same.
Vanessa Pierce, Mayville State University MSN Nurse Educator graduate student, presented preliminary work on her collaborative project with Mayville State University and Essential Health at a conference hosted by the North Dakota Nurses Association Friday, Nov. 7, 2025. The conference, “Strengthening Healthcare Through Interprofessional Collaboration,” was intended to bring multiple disciplines together to learn from each other and provide discussion opportunities to improve patient care outcomes.
Mayville State students truly value the community. We often hear from students who include the community among the reasons they are happy about their Mayville State experiences. We were very much reminded of the appreciation they feel last August when the members of the Comets football team launched an all-out effort to help community members whose homes and property received the wrath of a destructive windstorm. It was their way of repaying the favor.
It was an honor and pleasure to host the Interim Higher Education Institutions Committee of the North Dakota Legislature at Mayville State University on Wednesday, Oct. 29. The role of the committee is to study and receive reports on issues related to the state's higher education system between legislative sessions. The committee's work helps inform future legislative decisions on higher education policy and appropriations.
