Cultural Diversity Waiver
To qualify for the Cultural Diversity Waiver, applicants must demonstrate that they come from a culturally diverse background and meet one of the criteria outlined in the application form. To renew the waiver in subsequent years, students are required to maintain a cumulative institutional grade point average of at least 2.00 and participate in the activities organized by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Some recipients may be required to live on campus.
The amount of the cultural diversity tuition waiver is a flat award of $1,200 per academic year or $600 per semester based on enrollment in a minimum of 12 credits. An additional annual amount of $300 may be available to declared Teacher Education majors with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Newly admitted and returning MSU students apply for the Cultural Diversity Waiver through the Scholarship Portal.
