The Mayville State University Farmers Bowl Auction event is back! The much-loved event returns Saturday, Sept. 17 after taking a break for a few years. The event promises to be a great time for all and includes the chance to win great prizes and the opportunity to purchase some wonderful auction items that have been donated by numerous local and regional businesses, alumni, and friends.
All proceeds of the auction will be disbursed through the MSU Foundation for the benefit of Mayville State University and its students. The first Mayville State University Farmers Bowl Auction was held in 1997 when $14,000 was raised. The amount raised in each auction has grown steadily over the years.
Admission tickets for the Farmers Bowl Auction sell for $35 each and may be purchased at the MSU Foundation office, the MSU Bookstore, or MayPort Hardware Hank. They are also available online at www.mayvillestate.edu/farmersbowl. The Farmers Bowl Auction will begin at 5 p.m., when a fabulous hors d’oeuvres buffet opens, along with the cash bar and the silent auction. The excitement of the live auction will begin at 7 p.m.
Those who attend can expect a fantastic assortment of silent and live auction items on which to bid at the Farmers Bowl Auction. Auction items are still being accepted. The day-long Farmers Bowl 2022 celebration will begin with the Farmers Bowl Parade which will start to make its way through downtown Mayville at 11:30 a.m. The parade will begin on Main Street near the Goose River Bank, head east, and end on the Mayville State campus near Jerome Berg Field.
A corn on the cob and hot dog feed will begin immediately following the parade on the grounds outside of Jerome Berg Field. There is no charge for the feed, but freewill donations will be accepted to help defray costs. All are welcome to enjoy some delicious food while listening to the music of Kenny and the Classics. There will be inflatable games and face painting for kids.
The Mayville State Comets will host Presentation College in the Farmers Bowl football game. Game time is 2 p.m. at Jerome Berg Field.
