Students from Canada or any other country are considered international students and must fulfill additional requirements for admission, including submission of documents to be issued an I-20, which is required for entry into the United States.

All documents submitted must be translated into English and certified as to their authenticity and accuracy. The I-20 will not be issued by MSU until the admissions file is complete and admission fees are paid.  Find the admissions requirements below for the different types of international students.

Canadian Students

Canadian Freshman

You are considered a Canadian Freshman student if you (1) are from Canada, and (2) have graduated high-school but have not attended a post-secondary institution.

Canadian Transfer

You are considered a Canadian Transfer student if you (1) are from Canada, and (2) have attended a post-secondary institution after your high-school graduation.

International Students

International Freshman

You are considered an International Freshman student if you (1) are from a country outside the U.S. and Canada, and (2) have graduated high-school and but have not attended a post-secondary institution.

International Transfer

You are considered an International Transfer student if you (1) are from a country outside the U.S. and Canada, and (2) have attended a post-secondary institution after your high-school graduation.

Canadian and International Online Students

International students may complete Mayville State University online coursework from their home and not be subject to SEVIS visa requirements or the institutional administrative processing fee of $100. However, students would need to meet admission criteria. Contact the Office of Admissions at 701-788-4763 for more information.
