Concert Schedule
September 17, 2012 - Alejandro Drago - Violin
Hailed by music critics as “a superb musician” with the “classical virtuosity of a Heifetz or Perlman,” the “suave care style of Florian Zabach,” and the “jazzy insouciance of Stephane Grappelli,” “Alejandro Drago has crisscrossed the line between concerto virtuoso and jazz soloist.” His versatile musicianship has allowed him to be successful with many diverse styles and genres.
October 15, 2012 - Sarah Cahill - Piano
Sarah Cahill, recently called “fiercely gifted” by the New York Times and “as tenacious and committed an advocate as any composer could dream of” by the San Francisco Chronicle, has commissioned, premiered, and recorded numerous compositions for solo piano.
November 26, 2012 - Tine Thing Helseth
Tine Thing Helseth is a Norwegian trumpet soloist specializing in classical repertoire. Helseth belongs to a new generation of Norwegian soloists - indeed a new generation of brass soloists altogether - who have been more influenced by the idiom of string players and singers than what used to be the case.
January 14, 2013 - Ethel String Quartet
Acclaimed as America’s premier post-classical string quartet, Ethel invigorates contemporary concert music with refreshing exuberance, fierce intensity, imaginative programming, and exceptional artistry. Formed in 1998, New York’s ebullient Ethel is comprised of Julliard-trained performers Cornelius Dufallo (violin), Dorothy Lawson (cello), Jennifer Choi (violin), and Ralph Farris (viola).
March 4, 2013 - Maya Trio
Maya, a trio formed in the summer of 2005, offers the uniquely compelling and rhythmically driven combination of flute, harp, and percussion, performing classical and new music, world music, and incorporating improvisations into its performances.
