Head Coach

Dennis Hutter is in his fifth season as head women's basketball coach at Mayville State University.

In his first four years at the helm of the Comets, Hutter has led a resurgence of women's basketball at Mayville State. The Comets have recorded two winning seasons over the past three years and competed for the Dakota Athletic Confernce Championship in 2007-2008.

In four seasons Hutter has coached four All-Conference performers, two Honorable Mention All-Americans, and has coached one Freshman of the Year winner.

Prior to Mayville State University, Hutter served as the assistant women's basketball coach at NCAA II Southwest Minnesota State University.

Assistant Coach

David Moe is in his fourth year of coaching with the Mayville State University women's basketball program.

A Barnesville, Minnesota native, Moe was involved in basketball, track and field, and baseball while in high school until he graduated in 2003.

Moe attended Mayville State after graduation and played one year on the men's basketball team before deciding to pursue a career in coaching. He began his career as an assistant coach for current MSU head coach Dennis Hutter durig the 2005-2006 season. He has been an assistant on the women's basketball team ever since.

Moe graduated from Mayville State University in 2009 with a B.S. in Exercise Science and a minor in Coaching. He married his wife in June and is currently working toward a Master's Degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Dakota with aspirations of coaching his own team in the future.

Assistant Coach

Doug LaPalm will join the Mayville State University women's basketball staff for his first season in 2009-2010.

LaPalm is from Lacey, Washington and attended Timberline High School where he played four years of basketball and baseball. During his senior season, both teams advanced to the state tournament.

Following high school LaPalm spent three years at Green River Community College in Auburn, Washington where he redshirted one year and played two seasons on the baseball team. LaPalm led the team to a third-place finish in the NWAACC during his sophomore season.

LaPalm came to Mayville after his three-year stint at Green River and finished his college baseball career with the Comets in the spring of 2009. He is currently finishing his teaching degree and coaching minor at Mayville State with a DAPE certification.
