The 33rd annual Mayville State University Golf Classic will be held June 13 and 14, 2008 in Detroit Lakes, Minn. The Mayville State Alumni Golf Classic is the oldest medal play university alumni golf event in the world. If you don’t play golf, just come and visit, participate in the Friday night scholarship event, and enjoy the weekend. Weekend events include a two-man best ball tournament on Friday, June 13. Shotgun start is at 9:00 a.m. The annual scholarship event and social will be held at the Detroit Country Club Dining Room at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening. The main event, the Saturday tournament begins at 11:30 a.m. at Detroit Country Club Pine-to-Palm Course. The awards presentation will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the country club. Dr. Matt Wanat, associate professor of English, was named Mayville State University Teacher of the Year. The award was presented to Wanat at the annual academic and student senate awards program held Sunday afternoon, April 20, 2008.

Nancy Galde was named the recipient of the Orville Johnson Meritorious Service Award at the annual Mayville State Employee Recognition Banquet held Thursday evening, May 1, 2008. Galde is a Pre-K classroom teacher with the Mayville State University Child Development Programs. She has been employed by the MSU Child Development Programs since February of 1999.

The annual Mayville State University Employee Recognition Dinner was held Thursday evening, May 1, at the Mayville State Campus Center Luckasen Room. Special recognition was given to recent retirees and to those employees who have reached milestones in years of service. The recipient of the Orville Johnson Meritorious Service Award was also named.
