The Nation’s First TabletPC Campus
While Mayville State may be writing its future in digital ink, the mark it will leave is permanent. In summer 2004 , Mayville State became the first campus to issue TabletPC notebook computers to all students and faculty. The computer issued is the Gateway M295.
The Gateway M295 TabletPC is a full-size, performance notebook computer that converts into a notepad, allowing user the flexibility to use either the keyboard or a digital ink pen. Using Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC edition operating software, the TabletPC provides incredible flexibility for students and faculty. The Intel Pentium M processor provides for high-speed performance and extended battery life.
The educational advantages of the Gateway M295 which uses the Microsoft Window XP TabletPC operating system are many. Here are just a couple examples. Students can take handwritten notes on their computer screen and save their thoughts in digital ink. Professors and students can make onscreen notes during multi-media presentations to highlight key points for everyone to see. Electronic notes can be made on research papers and be exchanged via e-mail, allowing quicker response times and reducing paper copies.
