NCA Accreditation
The Higher Learning Commission (North Central Association) members completed their visit to Mayville State on Wednesday, November 16. After studying the detailed report and campus materials, the team has recommended the full ten years of continued accreditation for MSU (until 2015-16). There were no monitoring reports or focused visits suggested for the ten-year period. Their recommendation is the best that a school can receive.
Official approval of continued accreditation will probably happen in April 2006. There are many levels of review and reports that need to be prepared by the team and the commission after the campus visit.
The team chair made several comments in his oral exit report. He stated that he would be listing eight areas of strength at MSU in the written report. These include:
- The Child Development Programs
- The OWL office and Heart of the Valley Consortium
- The one percent sales tax initiative that supports our wellness center
- Grants received over the past ten years (Bush, Dept. of Labor, CDC grants, etc.)
- The notebook initiative and IT certificate
- The Traill County Technology Center
Senior leadership
- Partnership with Lake Region
They will also provide advice and suggestions for the institution to work on during the ten-year interim.
