DISTANCE EDUCATION ACCESS TO RESOURCES
ACCESSING THE LIBRARY’S ONLINE RESOURCES
You have access to our online resources that are located on the library’s web site at http://www.mayvillestate.edu/academics/library/index.htm.
In “Electronic Resources” you will see listed many online databases for you to use. Some of these databases include full-text journal and magazine articles.
USERNAME & PASSWORD
Whenever you are prompted for a barcode/username and password you need to look on your student ID card. The barcode or username is the 14-digit number on the backside of your ID starting with 2311. The password is your last name (unless you have changed it within ODIN, our online catalog).
NetLibrary is one exception to the above rule. With NetLibrary you can read an entire book online. The e-books are cataloged and searchable within our ODIN library catalog. In order to check out an e-book and take full advantage of the features within NetLibrary, you must be registered. To register contact one of the librarians here OR, physically, come to campus to register on your own; otherwise, you will register under the ND State Library and not with Mayville State University. To contact us please email Shannon at hofer@mayvillestate.edu or call at 1-800-437-4104, ext. 34815.
If you have any difficulty getting into any database, please contact the library. We may need to activate your ID card within our system for it to work or contact the database provider to report an error.
REQUESTING BOOKS OR OTHER MEDIA
Before requesting a book from us, you may want to look in your local library to see if they possibly have what you are looking for, or if they can obtain it for you. If the materials you need are not available through your local library, you may submit a request to us and we will send the materials to you. Please search Mayville State University Library’s collection before searching in any of the other ODIN libraries. Please keep in mind that it may take up to a week or more to receive the materials depending on where the books are coming from and where you are located. It is a good idea to make sure the item you want is available before sending a request.
To request an item
*Dual credit students may return materials to their high school library IF approved by the high school librarian.

There are many databases available through the “Electronic Resources” link on the library’s web site.
