Purpose
Mayville State University proudly introduces its Honors Institute. This program is designed for students with strong academic motivations. These are students who wish to explore learning opportunities in interdisciplinary, scholarly, and rigorous courses directed by teacher-scholars of proven merit and dedication to education.
Structure
The Honors Institute Curriculum encompasses 18 to 20 semester credits. Each semester, one four-semester hour honors course will be drawn from the field of humanities, mathematics/science, or social science. It will include an external activity that will broaden horizons and provide scope for a journal and short reflective paper treating diverse regional experiences and resources. One year of college-level foreign language, or the equivalent, with grades of B or better is required as part of Mayville State University’s general education requirement.
Students must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 in a given term to remain in the program. When the grade point average returns to 3.50 or above in a succeeding term, the student will be welcomed back into the program if he/she so desires.
