Title III Grant

The Professional Advisor position of the Title III grant is shared by Kristi Bitz and Connie Kaldor. Key aspects of this shared position include looking at ways to serve both residential and distance students with regard to advising and first year experiences. A course titled Seminar on Success (SOS) has been developed and will be implemented during the Fall 2008 for incoming, residential first year students. Some unique features of the course include a linking of the course with an additional course that the student is enrolled in to provide cross discipline learning application opportunities. Another feature of the SOS course is that the SOS instructor will also serve as that student's advisor to provide routine advisor contact. First year experience opportunities for transfer and online students are being developed. Advising at Mayville State will continue to be developed as SOS is implemented and as the Professional Advisors consider other successful models of advising.
