Join in the Fun of Mayville State University’s Farmers Bowl 2009!

Mayville State’s University’s Farmers Bowl 2009 is scheduled for Saturday, September 26. The annual day-long festival teams Mayville State University with a celebration of the region’s agricultural way of life. Highlights of the day will include a parade, corn on the cob and hot dog feed, football game featuring the Mayville State University Comets, and a charity auction.

The Farmers Bowl festival will begin with a parade that will proceed through downtown Mayville, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The parade will start near the Goose River Bank and proceed eastward down Main Street, making its way to the final destination of Jerome Berg Field on the Mayville State campus. The parade traditionally features antique farm machinery, as well as agriculture-related and other entries. A corn on the cob and hot dog feed will take place following the parade, and will continue until about 1:00 p.m. The corn and hot dog feed will be held under the tent set up near MSU’s Jerome Berg Field. Everyone is welcome!

The Mayville State Comets will face South Dakota Tech in the first home football game of the season at 1:30 p.m. The game will take place at MSU’s Jerome Berg Field.

The Comets volleyball team will take on Dickinson State in a home game in Mayville State’s Lewy Lee Fieldhouse, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

The day’s activities will culminate with the annual Farmers Bowl Auction. The auction is sponsored by the MSU Foundation. Proceeds of the auction are used for the benefit of Mayville State University and its students.

The auction will be held at the MSU Campus Center Luckasen Room. The silent auction begins at 5:00 p.m. and will run through 8:00 p.m. The live auction will begin at 7:00 p.m. and continue throughout the evening. An hors d’oeuvres buffet will open at 5:00 p.m. and be available until the live auction ends. Tickets for the auction sell for $25.00 per person and can be purchased online at www.mayvillestate.edu or at MayPort Hardware Hank, Goose River Bank in Mayville, N.D., and at First and Farmers Bank in Mayville and Portland, N.D.

A fantastic array of items has been donated and will be available for purchase at the auction. The list includes theme dinner parties; handcrafted items, including quilted pieces, jewelry, and paintings; theme parties; a number of fun and useful household items; and much, much more.
