Those who attend may begin gathering outside the Luckasen Room at 6:30 p.m. for socializing. Doors to the event, which will feature fabulous jewelry and other prizes, games, a silent auction, and refreshments, will open at 7 p.m.

“We are excited about the positive reaction to ‘A Sparkling Affair’ that we’ve seen for the past few years, and we look forward to another spectacular event this year, the fourth year for the gala,” said Dena Bergstrom, MSU Foundation Annual Giving Coordinator/Phonathon Associate and organizer of the 2016 “A Sparkling Affair” event.

Riddle’s Jewelry of Grand Forks, N.D. has come on board for a fourth year as a major sponsor of “A Sparkling Affair,” donating more than $8,500 worth of jewelry this year. Diamond hoop earrings, a custom crafted ring, and a diamond pendant will be prizes given away in the Riddle’s Jewelry Grand Prize Extravaganza during the Feb. 25 event. A Riddle’s two-tone diamond ring, valued at $3,285, is the grand prize in a pre-event raffle that is currently underway.

Those who attend the “A Sparkling Affair” event will want to arrive at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy socializing and to participate in a raffle for a chance to enjoy the event in the “Luxurious Sparkling Lounge.” The winner of this raffle and five friends will enjoy the main event from comfortable lounge seating in a posh designated area in the Luckasen Room.

Door prizes awarded at “A Sparkling Affair” will include unique and beautiful jewelry items that have been created and donated by a number of local jewelry crafters, including Debbie Hagen, Jennifer Kohls, Lisa Rakowski, and Helen Hoyt of Mayville and Shari Schultz of Portland, N.D. Kohls and Hagen founded “A Sparkling Affair” in 2013 and have continued to be actively involved each year since. Jewelry pieces created by the local crafters will also be available for purchase in a silent auction.

Back by popular demand to “A Sparkling Affair” is the “Treat Yourself to a Cupcake” game. Several Gigi’s cupcakes, each packaged in a special box, will be available for sale at the event. Purchasers will be eager to open their boxes to learn if they have also won one of many wonderful prizes, valued at $35 or more.

New to the event this year is the “Wine Cork Grab.” Those who play the game will have an opportunity to win bottles of wine, various gift cards, and other prizes. Area businesses and individuals have donated the prizes for this activity.

Admission tickets for the “A Sparkling Affair” event sell for $30.00 each, and are available by calling the MSU Foundation at 701-788-4864 or by going online to www.mayvillestate.edu/sparklingaffair.

Those who are interested in supporting the cause and having the opportunity to win fabulous jewelry prizes, but who are unable to attend the event, may be interested in participating in the Dazzling Prize Drawing. This raffle, which is currently underway, will offer the opportunity to win one of three prizes: a pendant and ring set donated by Jennifer Kohls, a handcrafted necklace and earrings set made and donated by Debbie Hagen, or the grand prize, a two-tone diamond ring donated by Riddle’s Jewelry of Grand Forks, N.D. A .50 carat round brilliant cut diamond center stone is the focal point of this gorgeous 14 kt. gold ring. Diamonds enhance the band of this ring, which is valued at $3,285. Dazzling Prize Drawing ticket purchasers need not be present at the Feb. 25 event to win. Tickets may be purchased at the MSU Foundation, 701-788-4864, or by going to www.mayvillestate.edu/sparklingaffair.

“We are delighted with the plans for the Feb. 25 event,” said MSU Director of DevelopmentJohn Klocke. “This fundraiser will support important needs for Mayville State, and it’s providing an evening of great fun and excitement for all.
