A diamond pendant valued at $650 will be the grand prize in the Sparkling Christmas Tree Raffle that will be a part of the MSU Foundation Poinsettia Ball planned for Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. The pendant is among about 30 raffle prizes valued at $40 or more that have been donated by generous Mayville State alumni and friends.

Riddle’s Jewelry of Grand Forks, N.D. has donated the diamond pendant, along with a ladies created blue and white sapphire stud earrings and pendant in silver. The names of everyone who attends the Poinsettia Ball will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win the pendant and earrings set.

In addition to Riddle’s Jewelry, Sparkling Christmas Tree Raffle donors include Aasen Drug, Debbie Hagen, Wild Side Salon, West Acres Mall, Sheer Impressions, MSU Bookstore, Sharon’s Massage, the MSU Foundation, Mandi Evans, Annie Freeberg, Mae’s Vintage Décor, Tammy Schmitz, Karla Thykeson, Viking Insurance, Billie Jacobson, Shane and DeAnna Kyllo, Kim and Rob Lauf, May-Port Hardware Hank, Jacobson Studio, Brudvik Law, Gigi’s Cupcakes, and the Delchar Theater.

The Poinsettia Ball will begin with socializing in the MSU Campus Center Luckasen Room at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. An hors d’oeuvres buffet and cash bar will be available. Dancing to the fabulous Downtown Horns will begin at 7 p.m. and continue until 11 p.m. Dress is semi-formal, and the event is for those 21 years of age and older.

The Downtown Horns have become well-known as the premiere wedding and party band in the Grand Forks area. They play selections from the rock, blues, and horn band genres, and have been influenced by such artists as Blood, Sweat, and Tears, Chicago, The Commodores, Tower of Power, Van Morrison, and Wilson Pickett Band. Band members include Dave Christianson, Jenny Loer, Michael Wittgraf, Thomas Anderson, Dave Berger, Mike Blackmun, Mike Blake, and Mayville State alumni Stacey Searle and Lynn Schroeder.
