First State Bank will sponsor the 2018 Farmers Bowl football game. This will be the first Mayville State game to be played on the newly installed artificial turf at Mayville State’s Jerome Berg Field. The game will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8.

“We are delighted the First State Bank has joined us as a sponsor for the Farmers Bowl festivities,” said MSU Foundation Executive Director John Klocke. “Sept. 8 promises to be an extra-special day at Mayville State, and we are grateful for our supporters who are joining in on the excitement.”

The MSU Foundation has a full slate of activities planned for Farmers Bowl 2018.

The day will begin with the Farmers Bowl Field Frenzy Run/Walk, which will begin at the front entrance to Old Main at 8 a.m. A majority of the fast out and back race course will be located on the beautiful MSU campus. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome. The registration fee is $10 per person. The fee will be waived for Mayville State students who show their official university identification. Proceeds of this event will benefit the fundraising efforts of the Farmers Bowl. Register at www.mayvillestate.edu/farmersbowl.

A parade featuring farm equipment, bands, antique vehicles, and floats will begin in downtown Mayville at 10 a.m. It will start at north of the Goose River Bank, turn east and travel through town on Main Street, ending at Jerome Berg Field on the Mayville State campus. To register an entry in the parade, call 701-788-4864 or email stacy.buchl@mayvillestate.edu.

“We request your help in making this the best Farmers Bowl parade yet,” said John Klocke. “With the introduction of turf at Jerome Berg Field, Sept. 8 will be a historic day for Mayville State University and for the Mayville-Portland community. We’d love to have you join us with an entry in the parade and by participating in all of the festivities planned.”

The corn and hot dog feed will be back this year! Following the parade, everyone is welcome to enjoy corn on the cob and hot dogs under the tent located west of the field. The Mayville State athletic teams are coordinating this year’s feed. Freewill donations will be accepted.

Families are invited to enjoy the festivities outside of Jerome Berg Field after the parade and before the Farmers Bowl football game. There will be inflatable games, a farmers market, face painting, potato sack races, corn hole games, giveaways, and more!

The MSU Comets will take on the College of St. Scholastica in the Farmers Bowl football game. Game time is 1 p.m. at Jerome Berg Field. This will be the first Mayville State game played on the newly installed turf at Jerome Berg Field. Don’t miss out on the excitement!

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the entrance to the field at 11 a.m., after which, people will have an opportunity to take a look at the new field. The turf field will be officially dedicated during a short program that will take place at half time of the game. The MSU Foundation Farmers Bowl cash raffle drawing and original watercolor painting raffle drawing will also be held at half time of the game.

The MSU Bookstore will be open following the ribbon cutting ceremony, at approximately 11:20 a.m., until 1 p.m.
