oil_painting.jpgYou could win $500 just by attending the Mayville State University Farmers Bowl Auction on Saturday evening, Sept. 17! Thanks to the generosity of Lindsey Brown of Pifer’s Auction & Realty, those who attend the auction will have an opportunity to win $500 cash in a grand door prize. Brown, a 1991 Mayville State graduate, has chosen to give back to his alma mater in a special way. The winner of the $500 will be drawn from the admission ticket stubs of those in attendance at the auction. The winner must be present to win.

“We encourage everyone to buy their auction admission tickets now to assure that they’ll be able to attend this fun-filled event that is so important to the success of Mayville State University,” said Beth Swenson, Director of Alumni Affairs for the MSU Foundation. “We promise a great time for all, and the chance to win great prizes, in addition to the opportunity to purchase some wonderful auction items that have been donated by numerous local and regional businesses, alumni, and friends.”

“We are grateful to Lindsey Brown for his generous donation. This will help to make the auction super-exciting for all who attend, and the benefits to Mayville State students as a result of the auction will be even greater,” said John Klocke, MSU Foundation Executive Director.

“There is always a fantastic assortment of silent auction items on which to bid at the Farmers Bowl Auction,” said Beth Swenson. “You’ll want to be sure to be at the auction event on Sept. 17 to see if you can be the successful bidder on the wonderful items that have been donated by our very thoughtful and generous supporters.”

This marks the 20th year in which the MSU Foundation has coordinated the Farmers Bowl Auction. The amount raised each year has grown tremendously since 1997, when the amount raised was $14,000. The proceeds of the auction will be disbursed through the MSU Athletic Department, the MSU Alumni Association, and the MSU Foundation, all for the benefit of Mayville State University and its students.

Admission tickets for the Farmers Bowl Auction sell for $25 each and may be purchased at the MSU Foundation office, the MSU Bookstore, or MayPort Hardware Hank. They are also available online at www.mayvillestate.edu/farmersbowl. The Farmers Bowl Auction will begin at 5 p.m., when a fabulous hors d’oeuvres buffet opens, along with the cash bar and the silent auction. The excitement of the live auction will begin at 7 p.m.

Other activities planned in conjunction with Mayville State University Farmers Bowl on Saturday, Sept. 17 include the “Farmers Bowl Field Frenzy 5K” run/walk, beginning at 8 a.m. At 10 a.m., a parade will start to make its way through downtown Mayville, ending on the Mayville State campus near Jerome Berg Field. The traditional Comet Athletic Club Corn on the Cob & Hot Dog Feed will begin there immediately after the parade and will continue until about 12:30 p.m. The Mayville State Comets will take on the University of Wisconsin-Stout in the Farmers Bowl football game. Game time is 1 p.m. at Jerome Berg Field.
