Comets_Neon_Sign_heads_or_tails-web.jpgThose who attend the Farmers Bowl Auction, scheduled for Saturday evening, Sept. 9 at Mayville State, will have the opportunity to play the heads or tails game, sponsored by Citizens Insurance Agency of Finley, Cooperstown, and Northwood, N.D. The grand prize in this fun and exciting game is a custom made Comets neon sign.

Game participants will purchase bead necklaces and will have to give one up each time they miss correctly guessing whether the coin will land on heads or tails when flipped. The last person standing will be the winner of the neon sign. The last 12 contestants will each receive a coupon for a complimentary lunch at MSU Dining Services.

“The heads or tails game will be a festive way to kick off the start of the live auction portion of our Farmers Bowl Auction event,” said Dena Bergstrom, annual giving coordinator and phonathon associate with the MSU Foundation. “The Mayville State women’s basketball team will be involved and keep the activity light-hearted, yet competitive. We are grateful to Coach Hutter and his team for their assistance and to Tim Strand with May-Port Hardware Hank, who is helping us out with his donation toward the heads or tails paddles.”

A wonderful selection of auction items has been donated to the Farmers Bowl Auction by generous Mayville State alumni and friends. There is something for everyone. A preliminary list of auction items is available at www.mayvillestate.edu/farmersbowl.

This marks the 21st year in which the MSU Foundation has coordinated the Farmers Bowl Auction. The amount raised each year has grown tremendously since 1997, when the amount raised was $14,000. The proceeds of the auction will be disbursed through the MSU Foundation, all for the benefit of Mayville State University and its students.

Admission tickets for the Farmers Bowl Auction sell for $30 each and may be purchased at the MSU Foundation office, the MSU Bookstore, Soholt Bakery, or May-Port Hardware Hank. They are also available online at www.mayvillestate.edu/farmersbowl. The Farmers Bowl Auction will begin at 5 p.m., when a fabulous hors d’oeuvres buffet opens, along with the cash bar and the silent auction. The excitement of the live auction will begin at 7 p.m.

CIAlogo-web.jpgOther activities planned in conjunction with Mayville State University Farmers Bowl on Saturday, Sept. 9 include the “Farmers Bowl Field Frenzy 5K” run/walk, beginning at 8 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., a parade will start to make its way through downtown Mayville, ending on the Mayville State campus near Jerome Berg Field.
